November 5, 1914 - Samuel Cooper dies
Samuel dies in a hut in Bush Creek, Arrowtown, of heart failure. In his will, Samuel leaves everything to his three children.
OBITUARY:
Samuel Cooper, one of the oldest residents of the Arrow district, was found dead in his house at Bush Creek yesterday afternoon. Deceased had reached the advanced age of 84 years, and some time ago had been an Inmate of the Arrow Hospital, suffering from heart trouble. He was last seen alive on Thursday evening, when he appeared to be in his usual health and spirits. From the appearance of the body it would appear that he had passed quietly away in his sleep. The late Mr Cooper was highly esteemed by all who knew him, and deservedly so, as he was straightforward and honest in all his actions. He arrived in this district about 50 years ago, and followed mining until old age necessitated his retirement. He was a widower, and is survived by one daughter (Mrs James Hewitt, of Morrinsville) and two sons, who are also resident in the North Island.
