October 26, 1880 - John Miller sets up Golden Link Gold-mining Company
In October 1880, John Miller registered the Golden Link Gold-mining Company. The company’s intended operations were at Sawyer’s Gully, Macetown. Shareholders in the company were John Orson McArdell (auctioneer, Invercargill), William Mackay (farmer, Arrowtown), Rochard David Owen (hotelkeeper, Arrowtown), and William Scoles (hotelkeeper, Arrowtown).
