January 1, 1852 - Samuel Cooper goes to Australia
Samuel arrives in Australia and goes to Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. There are no shipping records to confirm this is when Samuel went to Australia. However, he is not in the England census after 1951.
According to a letter that Samuel wrote that was published in 1910, he compares the mining techniques being used in Arrowtown with those used in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia in 1852 and 1853 (https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/LCP19101027.2.20.1). Note that this letter is referred to in an article in the Lake County Press in 1928 but this article incorrectly refers to the letter as having been written in October 1892. Checking both the original letter from 1910 and the republication in 1928, it is referring to the same letter.
