February 16, 1905 - Samuel Cooper still mining at 72

Despite being 72 years of age, Samuel was still applying for mining permits. In February 1905, Samuel applied for approval to mine under the Macetown-Arrow road, “about 45 yards from a small garden known as Healy’s”. The council discussed whether, in future, applicants should make a payment of a bond as security to ensure they fill in tunnels after working them and make the road secure from danger.
